What is tradition, if not an intertwining of events and beliefs over the course of centuries that brings light the most beautiful aspects of humankind? Weave after weave of broken relationships, fated meetings, and the ineffable bond that connects us, as human beings, with Nature.
We are a part of everything, and it’s inevitable to make our innermost abstract voices, passions, and beliefs come out through something tangible, something we can touch and admire – even in the most unpredictable ways.
That is the essence of the Anima Soul Light project, a modern lighting design company that wishes to show the world how it is possible to create, even in the most minimal design, a special connection between two different cultures, two different views of the world, two other voices of two countries at the opposite poles of the world.
What is “Anima Soul Light”?
Anima Soul Light is a lighting design project that came to life in 2020 thanks to a small group of Italian designers that, like many artists around the world, were bedazzled by the tropical beauty of the most important island in all the Indonesian archipelago: Bali.
The “Island of thousand temples” has preserved its own vibrant culture for centuries, inevitably affecting every aspect of its daily life, from dawn to sunset. Everywhere, from the most majestic temple to the tiniest country houses, you can feel in the atmosphere how everything soaks in a centennial history that the Balinese people never gave up on.
And this ongoing perseverance brought the Italian founder of the project to create something that could celebrate Bali all around in a unique way: through lamps.
Exactly.
Lamps.
Thanks to the Anima Soul Light project, what we would see as a simple and everyday life piece of furniture became a symbol, a real-life “body” of an entire culture and view of life.

What influenced the Italian designers
You can never fully get a world that is not your own. That is why the Anima Soul Light designers, since the project’s first steps, decided to collaborate with Balinese people – especially with Balinese craftswomen, to fully understand and project in their creations the Balinese way of life.
Their idea was to create something minimal but unique that could honor who has been handed down, from generation to generation, one of the arts Bali is most known for: the weaving of traditional dresses.
Anima Soul Lights lamps are made, in fact, of satin – a particular textile most often used in creating traditional dresses, showed in several Balinese ceremonies, because of its adaptability and timeless, brilliant colors.
If well-preserved, even if just neuter-soap and water, an Anima Soul Light lamps will always stay by your side and every curve and ray that will shine through their pendant will make you to travel around the paradise island of Bali and make you know its true essence.
From the best Bali temples in the most well-known tourist areas, such as the Purah Tanah Lot (one, if not the most, important water temples on the island), to the most remote lands where local people live among the rice fields, each Anima Soul Light lamps is a handmade twine of strands and traditions that gives voice to the spirits of dozens of women that love their land and want to celebrate it in every tiny detail.
